  • Our vision is ultimately a global, sustainable seafood industry in which our stewardship of planet and people profits all.

As seafood suppliers, we recognize our responsibility to not only embrace environmental stewardship, but to also safeguard our waters to ensure the healthy availability of seafood for generations to come. By establishing Sea Pact and pooling our resources and knowledge, we can support improvements and leverage change in the fishing and fish farming systems from which we source.

  • To drive stewardship and continuous improvement of social, economic, and environmental responsibility throughout the global seafood supply chain.

  • Sea Pact grew out of Santa Monica Seafood's successful Responsible Sourcing/Vendor Partnership (RSVP) Program, a collaboration with FishWise that applied a percentage of their purchases towards projects aimed at improving fisheries and aquaculture efforts at home and abroad.

The program generated interest from like-minded companies in both the U.S. & Canada that wanted to offer a similar type of financial support. A panel presentation at the 2012 Boston Seafood Show was the catalyst for the initial discussions, and the founding members of Sea Pact were selected based on their progressive sustainability policies. The organization was formally launched in 2013.

  • Multiplier is Sea Pact’s fiscal sponsor, which includes grant and contract management. Under Multiplier, Sea Pact can act as a non-profit organization and distribute and receive charitable donations.

  • Donations may be submitted as a one-time or as a recurring gift through the Support Sea Pact page on our website. Donations are protected by our 501(c)3 non-profit status through Multiplier.

  • These organizations act as advisors for Sea Pact, drawing on their experience in sustainability to advise us on improvement projects to fund and how best to utilize their resources to promote positive environmental and social gains.

  • Sam joined Sea Pact as Executive Director in early 2022 after serving as a sustainability advisor to the organization since its inception. Prior to joining Sea Pact, he spent 9 years with Sustainable Fisheries Partnership working closely with North American seafood buyers to develop and implement sustainable sourcing efforts, while engaging seafood supply chains in sustainability improvement projects. He also worked at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, where he collaborated with the fishing industry members, suppliers, and restaurants to support regional sustainable seafood initiatives and raise market awareness of local, underutilized species.

Sam received a MA in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island where his research focused on increasing the value of locally harvested seafood.
